My name is Heidi Wolf, daughter of Al and Laurie Trutsch, and I'm running for Allegan County 57th District Court Judge.
I was born and raised right here in Allegan County, graduated from Wayland Union High School, and have spent the last 32 years practicing law in the very courts I'm asking to serve. This is my home, these are my neighbors, and these are the principles I'll bring to the bench:
Fair and Equal Access to Justice
Every person who walks into our courtroom deserves to be heard. Whether you're a first-time litigant unfamiliar with the legal system or an attorney who appears regularly, I believe the law must be applied equally and without favoritism. Access to justice isn't just about opening the courthouse doors. It's about making sure that once you're inside, you are treated with dignity and respect.
Protecting Your Constitutional Rights
Our rights under the United States and Michigan Constitutions are the foundation of everything that happens in a courtroom. As your District Court Judge, I will safeguard those rights for every person who comes before the court. That is not just a responsibility. It is an obligation I take seriously.
32 Years of Experience Where It Matters
I have spent more than three decades practicing in the very courts I am asking to serve. Criminal defense, civil disputes, and landlord-tenant matters. I have handled the full range of cases that come before District Court. That experience gives me a deep understanding of the laws, court rules, and procedures that guide fair outcomes.
Transparent and Consistent Decision-Making
I believe judges owe it to the people they serve to explain their reasoning. When I make a decision from the bench, you will understand why. Transparency builds trust, and it leads to consistency. Attorneys and litigants alike should be able to rely on sound, well-reasoned decisions.
Compassionate, Yet Firm
Fairness requires more than just knowing the law. It requires judgment. My years of representing families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives taught me how to balance compassion with the clear-eyed application of the law. I will bring that balance to the bench. Every case involves real people facing real consequences, and they deserve a judge who understands that. But compassion does not mean leniency without accountability. I will be firm when the situation demands it, fair in every case, and guided always by the law and the limits of the court's discretion.
I'm asking for your vote because I believe our courts work best when they are led with experience, integrity, and a commitment to equal justice.
